Gavin Astor House Dementia Garden
Located in the RBLI Village, the Gavin Astor House care home provides short and long-term care to people both within the Armed Forces community and vulnerable people without a military connection. The home currently has 50 private rooms, and 24-hour care is available.
As part of the Gavin Astor House refurbishment, the RBLI require the funding, design and creation of a garden specifically designed with the needs of dementia patients in mind.
This year, the 2018 golden bricks graduate cohort are fundraising to help design, build and deliver a brand new, specialised dementia-friendly garden for patients to enjoy and provide year-long stimulation in an effort to improve the quality of life for residents.
Dementia is an illness that affects so many of us and something as small as a garden designed to suit the needs of the people at Gavin Astor House is just one way that we can help to improve the quality of their lives.
many of the residents at Gavin Astor House took immense pride in their gardens before becoming ill. They are so excited that this space is being revamped so that they can have their very own garden to look after once again.
